Semicon sector gets boost Karnataka Govt Policy To Help Start-Ups, Create Jobs

Bangalore: The Karnataka government on Tuesday announced an exclusive policy for the semiconductor and electronic industry, making the state the first to have such a programme. The state already accounts for about 60-70% of the country’s total semiconductor workforce, and is home to many semicon start-ups and the design centres of almost every major global semiconductor company.

Siemens to set up 6 hubs, recruit 8k

New Delhi: Technology major Siemens will increase its focus on India, banking on the country’s economic growth. The company has decided to invest Rs 1,600 crore over the next three years for venturing into wind turbine manufacturing and scaling up production capacity.

To support the growth plan, Siemens will increase its workforce by 3000 people in 2010 to 20,000. Total headcount is expected to increase to 25,000 by 2012.The company’s worldwide president and CEO Peter Loescher said India has the people, the products and innovation power. “And that’s why we are expanding our presence here.”

India Inc on hiring spree

Bangalore: India Inc is hiring. A global survey on hiring and firing trends by London-based recruitment firm Antal has found that 71% of Indian companies are currently hiring compared to around half in September. That’s among the highest in the world.
